Nashik and surroundings.

three days for Nashik and surroundings.

Day 1 - Take in the city in the morning - Panchavati and temples. In the afternoon, visit Gangapur dam which is 30 kms. away. You may not be allowed to see the dam itself, but its quite a pleasant ride through the countryside. Travel by local city bus, an experience in itself!

Day 2 - Visit Trimbakeshwar(ancient Shiva Temple), 30 kms. away in the morning. This is also the origin of the river Godavari, at Brahmagiri high in the hills. Travel by city bus. In the afternoon visit the caves at Chambhar Leni, just outside the city limits. Be prepared for a strenuous climb up to the caves!

Day 3 - Visit the Mukti dham temple at Nashik Road (railway station area) in the morning. In the afternoon climb up to the Pandav Leni caves which are just outside city limits on the Mumbai highway. Visit the Dadasaheb Phalke memorial near the caves, before returning to the city/proceeding to Mumbai.

For visits within the city use an autorickshaw, but do fix up the price before hand ! Nashik autowallahs have put meters on their rickshaws for decorative purposes only!
